Responsible for all manufacturing operations including cable and connector assembly, injection molding, fixtures, tooling and manufacturing engineering support. The responsibility also includes all manufacturing process improvements.
* Directs and supervises manufacturing teams and production activities in Connector Assembly, Cable Assembly and Injection Molding areas
* Manages the Manufacturing Engineering team including supporting all manufacturing work centers and team inputs for capacity, tooling, costing, and production efficiency
* Early participation in design engineering activities to assure manufacturability of new products and improvements to products, coordinates the transition of products from the prototype to the production launch
* Supports the development of new products and processes in accordance with QMS, based on ISO 9001 and 13485, and in accordance with ISO 14971 Risk Management for Medical Devices
* Responsible to provide input to product quotations including tooling and equipment costs as well as estimates of standard and non:standard labor content (this includes Cable Assembly when and if needed)
* Promotes functional and cross:functional training within the manufacturing areas to support current and future production goals. Defines manufacturing processes and establishes best practices to ensure consistency and compliance to QMS commitments
* Approves, designs, or specifies manufacturing tooling and equipment to provide manufactured or assembled parts meeting cost, quality, and timing objectives
* Establishes manufacturing budgets and defines capital expenditures for new equipment
* Provides regular reports on manufacturing key indicators to Management including presentations and updates on manufacturing areas, key customers or products; identify productivity improvement targets with concrete action plans and timeline
* Ensures and supports early identification of product quality issues, launch appropriate actions to prevent or limit them, identify root cause analysis and quality assessment for in:process, final test, and field failures; in collaboration with QA, deploy recovery plans and control implementation of corrective actions
* Other duties as assigned
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Industrial Technology
* Ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing and equipment environment
* Ability to mentor/coach to motivate and improve performance
* Technical skills in manufacturing processes including methods, flow, layout and process optimization
* Strong written, oral, analytical and multi:tasking skills in a complex, changing environment
* Previous experience identifying and sourcing capital equipment for manufacturing
* Previous experience designing tools, jigs and fixtures
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Effective troubleshooting skills and familiarity with effective problem analysis methods
* Hands on capability to perform assembly, failure analysis, or repair of products
* Experience with production, testing and inspection equipment
* Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
* Familiarity with standard concepts / tools including but not limited to: Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design / Process Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 5S
* Experience with enterprise resource planning software (QAD, SAP, etc.)
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
