Under the general direction of the Department Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager plans, directs and coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional patient care and services to a quality consistent with nursing and SJH standards and at a cost compatiblewith the fiscal and other resources of SJH.

Facilitates interdepartmental and intradepartmental problem solving and collaboration. Serves as a positive, progressive, professional role model to nursing staff by actively participating in effective management and operational leadership.
Immediately responds to patient, physician and staff concerns, completes follow-up and reports results to nurse manager.
Projects staffing needs for the next shift and reviews the schedule and projected needs for the next 24 hours. Collaborates with staffing office to meet the needs of the unit.
Initiates/supports chain of command when necessary for resolving patient care and operational issues.

Education: Minimum a Bachelors of Nursing degree
Experience: Demonstrated current clinical competency in a department with two (2) to three (3) years of lead nurse or demonstrated progressive leadership experience. Prefer Supervisory/Management experience.
License/Certification: Current BLS and any other certification in area as appropriate
