Position Overview:
Friends House is looking for a Registered Nurse candidate who can assist in directing and supervising the Friends House Health Care Unit in compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations. This position will work directly for our Director of Nursing and is responsible to oversee and coordinate the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS) process. We are seeking candidates with the desire and willingness to work in a collaborative environment for the improved care and satisfaction of our residents.

• Ability to work with residents, their families, staff, and the public on a personal basis under all conditions.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining resident assessments, care plans, and quality management program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the MDS process. Ensures that each portion of these assessments are signed and dated in timely manner to certify the completion.
• Collaborate with administration and management staff to update policies and procedure including implementation of resident assessment (MDS), care plans, discharge process, and attend facility required committees.
• Responsible to conduct oral and written reports to our Director of Nursing on nursing care to residents.
• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by the authorized government agencies.
• Identify and implement nursing service educational needs.
• Ability to assume tasks of the Resident Care Manager as needed in assist in assessing and evaluating the resident’s change of condition, appropriate interventions, diagnostics, and therapeutic procedures and treatments.
• Attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communications, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Holds a valid license to practice as an RN in California
• Geriatric and skilled nursing experience preferred
• Experience and current training with RAI/MDS process
• Supervisory experience desirable
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Flexibility with schedule and available to work some weekends and holidays

Pre-employment Requirements:
• Criminal background clearance with the DOJ and FBI
• Physically healthy and strong enough to push, pull, or lift supplies or equipment.
• Physical clearance by company doctor with negative drug screen and a negative TB test.
