Hi there,

My name is Amber Field, and I am a professional esraj teacher and performer. I was featured in San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay for yoga music. I studied Indian classical music at Viswa Bharati University in West Bengal, India, from 2002-4. I am able to teach tuning, bowing, and double bowing techniques. I can also show you fingering techniques as you play scales. I introduce you to the wonderful world of meend (methods of sliding between notes), which gives esraj and your playing an Indian sound of microtones. I can give you a brief introduction to ragas, but my speciality is in fusion music and creating your own music.

The esraj is a beautiful, mournful Indian instrument, and I am happy to teach you how to express yourself on it!

I charge $100/hour, $500 for 6 classes.

My website www.amberfieldmusic.com has videos and clips of me playing esraj.
The song "Mourning After" features esraj on my website.
I look forward to teaching you this beautiful instrument. I have offices in SF and Albany.

Take care,
Amber
