General Summary
This position is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. The Superintendent directly supervises field labor force, including laborers/craft workers. This position demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. This position comes with an Annual Bonus.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
(1) Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with project leadership.
(2) Direct day:to:day on:site supervision of field labor force; ability to run a crew directly should a need arise.
(3) Manages schedules, including preparation of detailed short:term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
(4) Ability to operate heavy equipment on as needed basis to meet critical deadlines.
(5) Review and approve items with project leadership.
(6) Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
(7) Conduct quality inspections.
(8) Prepares and submits Superintendents Daily Reports in an electronic format.
(9) Attends and participates in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
(10) Inspection of Contractor or (Sub)Contract operations to ensure compliance with contract.
(11) Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients.
(12) Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
(13) Communicates and enforces Northern Pacifics Safety Program.
(14) Demonstrates commitment to an Injury:Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.
(1) Specific understanding of industry
(2) Strong ability to read drawings and specifications
(3) Specific knowledge of Public Works project (Local and CDOT agencies)
(4) Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders
(5) Delegates work appropriately
(6) Strong decision making/problem solving skills
(7) Excellent time management and organizational skills
(8) Strong written and verbal communication skills
(9) Good math/accounting skills
(10) Strong management skills
(11) Functions effectively as part of a team
(12) Working knowledge of:
a. HCSS HeavyJob or equivalent Project Management software
b. MS Office Suite

(1) Junior College or Vocational education desired
(2) 20 + years of industry experience.
(1) Bachelors in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent desired
(2) 20 + years of industry experience

(1) OSHA certification
(2) First Aid/CPR certification
(3) Valid drivers license and ability to drive
(4) Self:motivated team player
(5) Attention to detail and accuracy
(6) Deadline driven
(7) Customer service focused
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
